This Week On The TC Gadgets Podcast: Windows 8.1, The Kindle Fire HDX, And Curved Display Smartphones

That’s right. It’s Gadgets Podcast time once again, and all I can say is TGIF.

Here are some of our topics this week:

Who’s already upgraded to Windows 8.1? John had no trouble with it but Matt seems to be lost.

Meanwhile, we’ve been testing out the new Amazon Kindle Fire HDX, and we all pretty much agree that it’s a fine media-centric tablet and a perfect gift for a mother-in-law.

And finally, we discuss the newest trend in smartphones: a curved display. (Here’s Nokia’s concept for a bending display smartphone, which is many years away from commercialization, and also completely different from the curved displays we’re seeing out of Samsung and LG).

Oh, and we’ll be launching our holiday gift guide in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out for that.

This Week On The TC Gadgets Podcast: BlackBerry, FitBit Force, The New iMac, And Pokemon?

Is BlackBerry co-founder really mulling over buying back the company he founded, now called BlackBerry instead of RIM, a company which has recently lost most of its design team and talent and… well, dignity? This Week On The TC Gadgets Podcast: iOS 7, iOS 7, And A Hint Of 3D Printing For Good Measure

iOS 7 adoption is already reaching at least 35 percent of iPhone owners, and that’s just after two days. Themakeover has been a big one, with Apple promising 200 new features.

The font is different. The colors are brighter. The icons are childish. And the whole system seems to bounce and bobble against the movement of your hand.

It’s a brand new world.

This Week On The TC Gadgets Podcast: Disrupt

TechCrunch Disrupt starts on Monday, so that’s on all our minds for this week’s TC Gadgets Podcast. Hardware Alley showcases gadget startups on September 11, and if you’re still looking for hardware fixes there have been plenty this week, including Microsoft acquiring Nokia’s devices wing, and Samsung’s new Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
